8FG is the designation identifying the transmitter. It is simply a general name for it.
In this designation are two types, the 8FGA and 8FGH.
8FGA is set to default to airplane models, it has a ratcheted throttle, the trainer switch is set to the left hand side, and is packaged most times with different servos, or accessories than than a heli radio.
8FGH is set to default to helicopter modules, it has a smooth throttle stick, the trainer switch is set to the right hand side and is usually packaged with a higher power receiver battery and accessories more suited to helicopter use.
Both the 8FGA and 8FGH have the same exact software in them and both can be used for either Heli or Airplane use.
